The Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) is organising the AUAS Summer School for the second year in a row. Rector Huib de Jong opened the Summer School on Monday, 4 July in the presence of all participants, lecturers and organisers.

One hundred Dutch and international students from more than 19 different countries are spending two weeks taking one of the six summer courses offered by the Faculties of Economics and Business, Applied Social Sciences and Law, and Sports and Nutrition.

All of the courses started their first week with a very practical approach to the lessons. Students of the European Business Skills and European Financial Markets courses went to Brussels on Wednesday, and students of the Practising Human Rights in Urban Areas course followed a lesson in the centre of Amsterdam, while students of the High Performance at the Olympic Stadium course followed their lessons amidst the European Athletics Championships held in the Olympic Stadium and on Museumplein (Museum Square) from  6 to 10 July.

In addition to the challenging academic programme, there is an extensive social programme. On Thursday evening, students of the AUAS, UvA and VU summer schools can take part in the Publecture in Crea where a lecturer from one of the universities will give an interactive lecture on a current topic.

The AUAS Summer School lasts until 15 July 2016.
