International Fashion in Amsterdam

Fashion Summer School

Fashion is a dynamic industry, which appeals to lots of people. However, it is quite complex; we have for example fast fashion, slow fashion, eco fashion, haute couture and economic confection.

To see fashion as an expression of your inner self is also a projection of your cultural background. Exactly this cultural background is the focus of the Fashion Summer School.

In the morning there will be lectures and in the afternoon we will focus on the deliverables of this summer school. The fashion lectures will be brought into practice by four deliverables:

  • Market research
  • Sales and sponsoring
  • Fashion magazine
  • Fashion show.

In vibrant Fashion Amsterdam we offer you a two weeks summer course on Fashion applied to the dynamic world of Fashion and Fashion Sales from a national and an international perspective.

Culture and fashion will be the scope of this summer school embedded in lectures from fashion academics and companies’ fashion managers.

In this Summer School, besides the underlying concepts of fashion, you will also study about Event Management, Sales/Sponsoring and Market Research/writing.

One week of Fashion in an academic surrounding (theory, lectures, project/sales management, market research) and one week of practical implementation in selling fashion concepts to buyers from the mid-high women’s fashion industry in the Netherlands.

Part of the sales concept is that you will have to organize a real fashion show in the second week of the course. Also the market research will give input for making the fashion magazine.

Fashion Summer School

Fashion, like all industries, always needs input to develop. Trend watching, consumer behavior, new materials, innovations on production techniques are all important topics in the fashion industry. Especially fashion designers seem to be guided by their own feelings and instincts, but are also guided by information they have from others, other cultures and especially from data generated from specific market research.

This input and the intuition of the designers result in real designs, which have to be sold. This result will be aimed at in this summer school through organizing a fashion event at which the designers show their new collections to an audience of Dutch fashion buyers. At this event the students will also present their self-published fashion magazine.
