Enrolment and selection

European School of Physiotherapy

As there are more prospective students than study places, ESP has a limited number of study places (120). Therefore, the programme has a selection procedure.

For the 2019-2020 academic year, make sure to enrol between 10 October 2018 and 15 January 2019 at the latest. Please find specific information about the enrolment and selection procedure for the ESP programme below. Following your enrolment application, the degree programme will invite you to participate in the selection procedure.

STEP 1: Check here to see if you meet the requirements to enrol in the European School of Physiotherapy.

STEP 2: Apply through Studielink, by completing the online application form.

STEP 3: Download the ESP Application Form to your computer. Complete the form in Adobe Reader, save, and submit via email to esp@hva.nl

The deadline for submitting the forms mentioned in Step 2 and 3 is January 15, 2019. After this date it’s no longer possible to apply for the programme.

If you have completed your application on time and your documents have been approved, you will be invited for the selection day.

All applications that meet the official requirements will be invited to the selection day. The selection for the academic year 2019-2020 will take place on the following date:

  • March 16, 2019

Make sure to mark this date on your calendar.

You will receive the invite for the selection day and the exact planning of the day on February 15, 2019 by email. Please note that all applicants will be invited to come to Amsterdam, in person on the selection day as we value personal (face-to-face) contact. For non-EU students we offer a Skype interview as an alternative. Please include a Skype request in your application form email in a timely manner so we can plan ahead. We have reserved 60 Skype interview slots as special service.

The selection day consists of:

  1. Two interviews with ESP lecturers - in these interviews you will get questions on the view of the profession, motivation and study skills and attitude.
  2. Written exam - in this exam you will receive a text in the field of anatomy, biomechanics and/or physiology. The exam consists of multiple choice questions that aim to check your understanding after having read these texts. Prior knowledge in these fields can help, but is not needed in order to perform well in this exam.

You will also have the opportunity to meet your prospective fellow students and lecturers.

Once the full application package has been received the invite will be emailed to all applications, including instructions for preparation of the selection day.

The average mark you receive for the tests decides your place in the ranking. Your chance of placement will depend on the number of available places and the number of students who participated in the selection procedure.

Based on the scores of the interviews and the written exam we will create a ranking and select the top 120 students.
