The Master of Arts programme in Fashion Enterprise Creation (MA FEC) is a full-time, two-year curriculum. AMFI

The Master of Arts programme in Fashion Enterprise Creation aims to inspire and equip fashion entrepreneurs with the skills to build purpose-driven fashion businesses. Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI) encourages start-ups to have a societal, cultural or environmental mission at their core. We provide guidance and expertise in establishing more sustainable fashion brands using a ‘Reality School’ concept. This concept mirrors and engages with the fashion Industry for real life experiences. 

Student background

Students apply from all over the world to compete to study at AMFI for their training in design, branding, and management and many graduates wish to go on to start their own businesses based on the skills they have developed.

The MA FEC programme is intended for (new) fashion entrepreneurs who want to start a fashion business. During this programme students register, start and operate their own fashion enterprise as entrepreneurs.

The MA FEC programme is open to both recent and post-experience graduates who have or have not already registered their own business.

Unique programme

The MA FEC programme builds on the core belief that profound change is needed in fashion education in order to safeguard the long term future of the fashion industry. This unique Master of Arts programme brings together a multidisciplinary and international class of students, who all share in the pursuit of re-designing the fashion industry and becoming a global force for good.

The MA FEC programme provides students with a strong foundation in business research, practical entrepreneurial know-how, and the essential skills needed to develop innovative fashion concepts. 

The Master of Arts programme in Fashion Enterprise Creation is a full-time, four semester study programme delivered over two consecutive years. Select modules of the programme are delivered in collaboration with the London College of Fashion and/or other international institutions. The Master of Arts programme in Fashion Enterprise Creation is based on four tracks: Research; Business; Marketing & Branding and Product & Service. These tracks guide and lead you to the final graduation where all knowledge, learnings and experience will culminate in a full brand and business presentation showcasing the products and communications developed over the years.

The first year of this programme gives students 16 contact hours per week. Each year of study includes 42 weeks of teaching. A contact hour is 50 minutes.

During this programme students register, start and operate their own fashion enterprise as entrepreneurs. The programme will provide students with a strong foundation in academic and business research, management expertise and training in the essential components needed to run a successful fashion enterprise.

You need a Bachelor’s degree in studies such as Fashion, Business, Economics, Creative Industries, Graphics or other fields of study which the admission committee find suitable to the application. A specific grade point average (GPA) is not required. All classes are conducted in English; for non-native speakers an IETLS English language level of at least 6.5 is required.

The Master's programme in Fashion Enterprise Creation is open for EU applications until 15 June 2019. Non-EU applicants have earlier deadlines due to visa and/or residence permit applications that will need to be submitted to the Netherlands Immigration Department.
