Admission requirements

International Business and Management Studies part-time

We require evidence that you have passed the standardised examinations for university entrance of your nation of origin.

When you have enrolled for the part-time International Business and Management Studies programme in our national application system Studielink, you will automatically receive an email invitation from the Central Student Administration (CSA) to submit copies before a certain deadline, of your diplomas and transcripts for evaluation.

We require evidence that you have passed the standardised examinations for university entrance of your nation of origin. These examinations include for example a Dutch havo, vwo or mbo level 4 diploma, International Baccalaureate, Abitur, GCSE O-levels in 4 subjects grade A*-C + GCE AS-levels in 2 courses. Additional requirements may be requested. For example, we expect proficiency of spoken and written English. Find more detailed information below.

Applicants with a Dutch mbo level 4 diploma are more than welcome to apply too.

If you do not meet these requirements, you might be eligible for a so called deficiency course (in Dutch).

When you are 21 years or older and do not possess a havo, vwo or mbo-4 diploma, you can take a 21+ proficiency test (webpage in Dutch).

Admission requirements for applicants with an international diploma

We require evidence that you have passed the standardised examinations for university entrance of your nation of origin that equals a Dutch havo, vwo or mbo-4 diploma. These include credentials such as International Baccalaureate, Abitur, GCSE O-levels in 4 subjects grade A*-C + GCE AS-levels in 2 courses.

For an indication about other foreign credentials compared to the Dutch diplomas havo, vwo or mbo-4, you can look at the EP-Nuffic website. The credentials list on the EP-Nuffic website is a shortlist and just an indication. Diplomas are still evaluated individually by us (Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences) and your grades and subjects could influence the final evaluation results.

We expect proficiency of spoken and written English. Additional requirements may be requested.

If you do not meet the admission requirements and are 21 years of age or older, you could take the 21+ proficiency test in order to become eligible. Once a year this test takes place in Amsterdam. Please contact Mr. André Resing for more information about the 21+ proficiency test in English.

Proficiency in English is an admission requirement for this programme. You will need to submit proof of proficiency in English as part of the application process.
Students with a Dutch havo, vwo or mbo level 4 diploma with an final grade for English of 7.0 or higher are best able to succesfully complete an English-language programme. 

The Amsterdam School of International Business accepts different English profiency tests.

Please keep in mind that:

  • The test scores cannot be older than two years.

  • You may apply for a degree programme, even though you have not yet taken an English-language test or while your test score is still insufficient. In that case, you might be conditionally admitted with one of the conditions for final admission being that you take and pass a (new) test. Please inform our Central Student Administration about the date on which you are planning to take such a test. Please note that you need to send in the result of the English proficiency test before 1 July.

Submission of the test

  • IELTS: a scan of the score report can be sent by e-mail. We can verify the score online.
  • TOEFL: initially, a scan of the score report can be sent by e-mail. If you are admitted, we need to receive an original score report. Please ask the Educational Testing Service to send it to us, using institution code 7623.
  • Cambridge Advanced Certificate (CAE): initially, a scan of the score report can be sent by e-mail. If you are admitted, we need to receive a certified copy of the certificate.

Exemptions
All students with a foreign diploma are required to present proof of their English proficiency, with the exception of English International Baccalaureate students and diplomas from Great Britain, Ireland, USA, Australia, New Zealand.

If you have a diploma from another foreign country, exemption is possible with a final exam in the course English, and if your diploma is on this Nuffic Diploma list.
