Job Applications

All job openings are published on the intranet first so that internal candidates have an opportunity to respond. If this does not produce a suitable candidate, the vacancy will be published externally.

PROCEDURE

If you upload your motivation letter and CV in the application form for a vacancy and press the 'send' button, you will receive a personal response by email within two to three weeks after the closing date. If you are invited and both parties are satisfied with the first interview, a second interview will follow, possibly in combination with meeting to discuss your terms of employment.

If you have any questions about the application procedure, please send an email to vacatures@hva.nl.

DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION

The city of Amsterdam is known for the diversity of its inhabitants. This diversity is also reflected in the student population at the AUAS. Each student has different qualities and talents. Ambition levels and personalities differ, as do physical and intellectual qualities and limitations. Not to mention age, social-economic background, nationality, culture and faith. These differences are also evident among our employees. We embrace and appreciate diversity and draw upon the talent of our people. Every day, we work to make our university of applied sciences a place where everyone feels at home, appreciated, and encouraged to be all they can be by developing professionally and personally.

We are taking the following steps to ensure that our employee population better reflects the diversity of our student population:

  • Creating jobs withing the framework of the Participation Act
  • Increasing the number of employees with a foreign background
  • More equality in the number of men and women in higher (management) positions at the AUAS
  • Providing better facilities and guidance for employees with disabilities, for example by:
    - making our buildings more accessible;
    - Analysing employee workspaces;
    - make necessary adjustments to these workspaces;
    - offering the required aids and tools;
    - providing a space for contemplation and rest.

CONTRACT

Employment contracts are usually entered into for a limited period of time. However, there are differences between the contract types. In many cases, contracts are designed to be extended or converted into permanent contracts after a year if the candidate proves suitable and if departmental staff budgets are sufficient, alongside good student enrolment levels.

In other cases, activities may be limited to a specific time period in connection with the need to replace staff, temporary expansion of a department's activities or a temporary project. This period will then be explicitly mentioned in the vacancy: the contract will then be automatically terminated at the end of this specified period.

AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT

Already appointed at AUAS, but haven't started your new job yet? In this case, you won't be able to access the AUAS intranet (MyAUAS) yet. If you would like more information in the meantime, please see this practical information. You will spend the initial period getting to know direct colleagues at your own location. You will also receive an invitation to a central introductory meeting. AUAS organises two of these sessions each year to familiarise new employees with colleagues at other locations, the wider organisation and the Executive Board.

After the introductory period, you will have the opportunity to explore our various training and development programmes, which include a didactic introduction. You can sign up for these programmes in consultation with your manager.
