Today, the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences' Executive Board Chairman, Huib de Jong, announced that Kate Raworth has been appointed Professor of Practice effective January 2020. The Faculty of Business and Economics nominated Raworth for this appointment.

Raworth is a global opinion leader on the topic of sustainability and the importance of connecting ecological challenges with inclusivity. In her book, Doughnut Economics, she sketches a framework for this. Starting in January 2020, Raworth will be the content lead on a project that will see the AUAS concretise the Sustainable Development Goals goals (SDG) in Amsterdam.

Although it’s common in international higher education, the Professor of Practice position is new to the Netherlands. This role enables the AUAS to connect to people who are a source of inspiration on current and future-focused strategic topics, in line with the AUAS’ mission and vision.
