First semester 2021-2022

8 Apr 2021 15:30

The AUAS has taken decisions concerning the international mobility of students and employees in the first semester of the academic year 2021-2022. These decisions pertain to the incoming mobility of degree-seeking students and exchange students, as well as outgoing mobility such as exchange and internships/work placements, and other types of outgoing student mobility, as well as that of lecturers, researchers and other employees. Mobility is possible for all groups, pending certain conditions.

More information for students and employees

A brief explanation of the conditions is included below. If AUAS students or employees are looking for a detailed overview of the conditions, they can visit the (internal) Going Abroad website or the AZ (International Mobility). These sites also contain more information about the goodwill scheme for the first semester.

Incoming international students who would like more information about the conditions for studying at AUAS in the first semester can contact our international offices.

Conditions

Degree-seeking students (Bachelor’s and Master’s) and exchange students are welcome if they adhere to the guidelines of the Dutch government regarding entry. Exchange students are also required to obtain permission from their home university prior to travelling.

The student is required to cover the costs and arrange accommodation themselves if they are required to self-quarantine. Student organisations ASVA and ISN can help connect students with buddies who assist international students who are required to quarantine upon arrival. AUAS Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes will start online for international students in the event that the Dutch government has banned their departure country from entering the Netherlands.

Students can go abroad at their own risk for the purpose of internships and exchange, both within and outside of the EU/EEA, under certain conditions. This includes, for example, signing an agreement with a checklist, making a Plan B in case they need to stay in the Netherlands, and checking the instructions corresponding to the colour-code for their destination country.

Other forms of mobility, such as short-term AUAS study trips or group travel, are permitted within and outside the EU/EEA if the student only travels when the colour-code is green or yellow on the day of departure according to the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Employees can travel internationally for work purposes to green and yellow cities, regions or countries if the governmental rules permit this. If the country’s colour-code is orange permission must be granted by the faculty dean and additional insurance is required. Travel is not permitted to country’s with the colour-code red. Employees can refer to the AZ list for an overview of the conditions.

Clarity

Via this decision, the Executive Board aims to provide clarity to students, degree programmes and the rest of the AUAS organisation. Student and employee safety is at the heart of this decision, as well as the quality of the learning experience, the reciprocity of exchanges and the possibilities for tailor-made education at our programmes.
