AUAS improves its SustainaBul ranking

The AUAS improved its 2021 score by boosting its performance in all of the areas monitored by SustainaBul: sustainability in research, education and business operations. For example, AUAS is working on reducing the usage of gas and electricity in its buildings and is also reducing traffic via a sustainable supply logistics hub on the edge of the city - parcels are picked up here and transported to AUAS locations via electric vehicles.

Attention to sustainability is also on the rise within education and research. The research group Psychology for Sustainable Cities is researching the behavioural changes of citizens, Responsible IT focuses on the development of digital technology, with an eye for social values ​​and the human dimension, while the Centre for Economic Transformation promotes sustainability in a business context. Kate Raworth , creator of the Doughnut Economics concept, has been appointed as AUAS Professor of Practice to help give shape to this ambition.

Sustainability is one of the three main themes in the AUAS’s new strategic plan. Our re>set network at AUAS is also working to accelerate our transition to becoming a sustainable university of applied sciences.

SustainaBul is an annual ranking of Dutch higher education institutions, conducted by the national student network 'Students for Tomorrow'. It assesses universities of applied sciences and universities in the Netherlands on sustainability in research, education and business operations.
