The Jakoba Mulder building is one of ten projects nominated for the Amsterdam Architecture Prize (AAP) 2023. Organised by Arcam, the AAP aims to encourage public debate about Amsterdam architecture.

The winner will be announced on 10 May. A professional jury and a public jury will present the AAP award in the Rode Hoed to the architect and client of the best project completed last year within the city of Amsterdam.

Setting an example

The Jakoba Mulder building made the top ten cut from a list of over 100 projects completed in Amsterdam by 2022.

According to Arcam, the ten nominated projects set an example, set the agenda and show what architecture can do for the city in general and Amsterdam in particular.

New buildings

All buildings in Amsterdam completed by 2022 were in the running for the Amsterdam Architecture Prize. Each year, the list consists of a wide range of projects spanning housing, offices, education, infrastructure, care facilities, hotels and public service and cultural buildings.

Next steps

The professional jury and public jury will visit all of the ten nominated projects. They will each choose a winner, based on their own criteria and independently of each other. The public is welcome to attend the award ceremony on 10 May in the Rode Hoed, although general voting is not possible.

Debate and cultural centre Pakhuis de Zwijger is organising three talks (in Dutch) related to the AAP, on 18 and 25 April and 2 May, which will bring together the architects, clients, jury members and other experts.
