AUAS well represented at European research conference in Prague

EARMA 2023: Widening and Deepening of the RMA Profession

17 Apr 2023 17:00 | Communication

Applied research is intertwined in our education at Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS), driven by the search for concrete solutions to pressing urban issues. At the EARMA conference in Prague next week, AUAS representatives Lucy Kerstens and Gerben ter Riet will share examples from applied research at AUAS with industry peers from across Europe.

EARMA (European Association of Research Managers and Administrators) is the European umbrella organisation for research managers and administrators. Thousands of professionals involved in research policy and funding gather annually during the EARMA conference to share their knowledge and learn about the latest trends in the sector. Kerstens and Ter Riet will share their expertise on the topics of open science and research collaboration respectively, during expert sessions on 25 and 26 April.

AUAS expertise

The number of research projects carried out by universities of applied sciences has increased significantly in recent years, at the local, national and international level. The AUAS has a growing number of international projects and works closely with Dutch peers in the UASNL network to raise awareness of applied research at the European level.

Lucy Kerstens is manager of the Centre for Economic Transformation at the AUAS and research activities at the AUAS Faculty of Business and Economics. Gerben ter Riet is a clinical epidemiologist specialising in the relationship between research integrity and methodology, currently working in a research governance role at the AUAS’s Faculties of Health, and Sport & Nutrition.

About EARMA

EARMA represents the community of Research Managers and Administrators (RMAs) in Europe. Its members work in academia, industry, the public and private sectors. It works with the EU Commission, national and international funding agencies. EARMA provides a networking forum, a learning platform, and a place to share experiences and best practice among RMAs throughout EARMA and in the wider RMA community.

The theme of the 2023 conference in Prague is ‘Widening and Deepening of the RMA Profession’. The theme covers both geographic widening as well as professional widening while the concept of deepening relates to the professional development of RMAs in Europe and beyond.
