Who should join?

The Business English Minor is intended for learners of English as a foreign language who wish to improve their business communication skills in English. The course is designed for part-time students, specifically mature, in-work students in the last stages of their bachelor’s degree programme. This means that the focus is on self-study and self-directed learning. During the course, you will be assessed on your professional development, i.e. focus on continuous learning, professional attitude, result orientation, and active participation in class.

The Business English Minor prepares you for working in an international business environment where English is the working language. This minor also prepares you for the official Cambridge C1 Business English Higher Certificate (formerly known as BEC Higher). This is an internationally recognized qualification that shows employers your advanced skills for using English in the global workplace. After completing the course, you can take the official exam at the British Council Amsterdam (optional, not included in the course). Visit the British Council website for more details.

Am I admissible for this course?

To be admissible for this course, you need to have a diploma of at least secondary vocational education, senior general secondary education or pre-university education. This course is for students with an advanced level of English: at least B2 CEFR level or upper-intermediate English language skills. At the beginning of the course, you will be given a test to assess your level of English.

Note for Non-EU citizens:

Your envisaged admission to this course does not meet the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) requirements for a residence permit for study purposes. The AUAS is, therefore, not in a position to help you get a visa or a residence permit. For this reason, any effort on your part to attend this course will be in vain.
