Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences

Urban Entrepreneurship Bootcamp

The world around us is asking for innovative and entrepreneurial action. Both from existing organizations as well as during the creation of new ones. This two week summer course will challenge you to find entrepreneurial opportunities that contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s).

This summer course will appeal to your idealism and activism to change the world, to your discipline to execute upon your plans and to your eagerness to learn about innovation, impact and entrepreneurship.

What can you expect?

  • Hard work, leaving your comfort zone every day and fun
  • A scientific, evidence based approach, yet practical approach to entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainability
  • A journey which will take you on a tour of Amsterdam’s entrepreneurial ecosystem

TWO TRACKS THAT WILL LET YOU EXPLORE HOW TO IDENTIFY ENTREPRENEURIAL OPPORTUNITIES THAT MAKE AN IMPACT ON THE UNITED NATIONS SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

This course has two separate tracks. The first week all students (regardless of the track they choose) will:

  • Take a deep dive into the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the role of innovation and entrepreneurship in creating a real and lasting impact
  • Experience the potential of innovation driven entrepreneurship and technological innovations for the creation of new business models

During the first week students can choose which track to follow in the second week.

Track A: ‘Bootcamp-track’

In the second week, the bootcamp-track will focus on exploring your own capability for opportunity recognition and your own motivation for entrepreneurship, innovation and impact. You may come up with an idea for your own business opportunity!

Track B: ‘Consultancy-track’

In the second week of the consultancy-track you will advice an existing organization or company on the (potential) sustainable impact of their value-proposition and business model. You will gain an insight into sustainable business plans and will be able to contribute with your own ideas.

Both tracks of this course is offered in a Regular (4 ECTS) and an Extended (6 ECTS) version. For more information on this, please see ’Learning Objectives’ and ‘Learning Activities’.
