Dr. Juanfra Alvarado Valenzuela
Researcher
JuanFra Alvarado Valenzuela, sociologist, is a researcher on entrepreneurial failure and recovery. This project, called Fenix, creates the largest database of entrepreneurial failure and recovery stories and integrates the topic of resilience into educational programmes. It also turns the findings into tools and reports for municipalities and organisations that help entrepreneurs in difficult times. In addition, JuanFra, together with Saskia Stoker, works on publications on migrants in entrepreneurship and conducts workshops for educators on diversity and inclusion in entrepreneurship.
In his PhD research, he investigated the role of innovation and social networks of migrant entrepreneurs in Italy and the Netherlands. In addition to research activities, Dr Alvarado Valenzuela is involved in disseminating academic knowledge to policymakers through projects with the City of Amsterdam, the Metropolis Project and the IMISCOE Network.
