Professorship of Entrepreneurship

As a professor of Entrepreneurship Ingrid Wakkee is at the head of the professorship and the program of entrepreneurship. Her own focus within these programs is on how entrepreneurs in different stages are influenced by there networks and how they influence these networks themselves.

Ingrid Wakkee studied International Business Studies in Maastricht and did her Phd on the topic of high tech global startups at NIKOS at the university of Twente.

From 2011 till 2016 she was an associate professor at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. Here she, among other things, was involved in developing education and research programs, mentoring Ph.D.'s, managing education programs, knowledge circulation, and business development. Wakkee has a vast experience in practice-oriented research in which both qualative and quantative researchmethods are used to gain insights on entrepreneurship and the role of social capital, networks and institutional processes inplacting entrepreneurship. Also, she has already been involved for years in developing entrepreneurship education and collaborations between industries, business and the education and science community. The research themes on which Wakkee is focused right now are, among other things, entrepreneurial failure and recovery, the collaboration between entrepreneurs and higher education, internationalization and entrepreneurship in developing economies.

Her work is published in (inter)national scientific journals and edited volumes on the topic of entrepreneurship and innovation. Ingrid Wakkee works together with colleagues from among other places, the united states of America and Tanzania and is involved in several European consortia. Finally, she is a visiting professor in Belfast at the University of Ulster and at the Thapar School of Management in India.
