Salary

Below you can read more about the payment dates, the salary statement, how to obtain a copy of your annual statement and more.

Your salary is paid around the 24th of the month. You receive a (digital) salary statement for each payment: see below for a sample and an explanation. (Please note that the actual salary statement is only provided in Dutch.)

Salary scales and grades

Employees who perform well will have their salaries increased to the next salary grade each year in August until they reach the maximum amount in that scale. You can find your salary scale and grade in DSPE under the My information tab.

Salary details in DSPE

Your salary statement is available online in the Digital Service Point for Employees (DSPE), under My information. The statement is usually available two or three days prior to the actual salary payment.

In the leaflet you will find an overview of the adjustments, changes to the payroll tax and other measures as of 1 January 2023. These premiums and rates are relevant for the calculation of deductions from the salary.
In the explanation you will find an explanation of the salary specification (see also the example of a specification).

Advances

AUAS employees can apply for an advance on their holiday or year-end allowance in the DSPE on the Self-service tab > Advance holiday and year-end allowance. An application can be done once a year, and the advance will be limited to the credit balance you have accrued. Settlement will take place the following May (holiday allowance) or the following December (year-end allowance).

Retention period

The salary statement is not a physical document stored in a database. When you request your statement, it is digitally compiled from the available data for the month in question. Due to the legal retention period, the AUAS will keep the data for at least seven years. The salary statement does not have a statutory retention period. For your own records, you are only required to keep the annual statement for at least 5 years.

Annual salary statement via DSPE

In January, an annual statement is provided on the fiscal wage of the previous calendar year. The annual statement can be found in DSPE on the My information tab > Annual salary statement.

Hard copy statements

A copy of your salary statement from before January 2016 and your annual salary statement from before 2019 can be requested via the Digital Service Point. Salary statements after that date are digitally available in DSPE > My information.

After the end of your employment you will no longer have access to the DSPM and your digital specifications. For your own use, you can download these for the last day of your employment and save them at a location of your choice. The annual statement will be sent by post to your home address in January after the year in which your employment ended. The details of the annual statement can also be found on your last salary statement (bottom right).

Salary increase

Employees who perform well will have their salaries increased to the next salary grade each year until they reach the maximum amount in that scale.

Holiday allowance and year-end allowance

In May, a holiday allowance is paid with your salary. The holiday allowance is calculated as 8% of your pay - this being your salary excluding allowances and benefits.

In December, the year-end allowance is paid out (8.3% of your annual salary).

Advance on your holiday or year-end allowance

AUAS employees can apply for an advance on their holiday or year-end allowance in DSPE on the Self-service tab > Advance holiday and year-end allowance. An application can be done once a year, and the advance will be limited to the credit balance you have accrued. Settlement will take place the following May (holiday allowance) or the following December (year-end allowance).

Allowances

Under certain circumstances, AUAS employees may be entitled to a permanent or one-off allowance. Due to working from home as a result of the corona pandemic, employees temporarily receive a monthly Internet allowance. For more information, see Allowances.

Employees working and/or living in a foreign country may be subject to other tax and social security regulations than those working and living in the Netherlands. See Cross-border work for more information.
