SETTING UP YOUR WORKSPACE
If there is one thing that deserves proper attention, it’s having a healthy posture at work. The rise in screen-based work means we are increasingly sedentary.
As a result of this increase in computer-work we tend to stay seated in our desk chair or remain in the same position for too long and don’t get enough movement or exercise while working. It is essential to keep moving to prevent the adverse effects of sitting in the same position for too long. Some of the ways you can do this are by changing your posture, taking a walk or standing up every now and then. And when you do sit down, it’s important to pay attention to how you sit.
1. Workspace advice: for individuals or groups
Your occupational health and safety coordinator can provide general information and personal instructions for setting up your chair, desk and PC.
Group advice is standard advice issued during or after a relocation or concerning the reconfiguration of multiple workspaces.
2. Screen-based work checklist
The Screen-Based Work (Beter Achter je Schermen, BAS) checklist (in Dutch) allows you to check whether you are carrying out screen-based work in accordance with health and safety principles. The results will highlight existing risks and areas of improvement for your specific workspace.
