Would you like to add a new dimension to your study programme? Expand your area of knowledge or learn something completely different? If so, choose from the range of minors on offer.

All programmes within the AUAS work with the major-minor structure. Of the 240 EC that you need to graduate, you get 210 with the major, the fixed component of your study programme. The minor of 30 credits is the compulsory elective course within your study programme. You can fill the minor space with one or more minors or minor modules.

You can specialise either inside or outside your field of study. Do you wish to do a Master’s degree programme at a university? If so, you must pursue a transfer minor.

AUAS students can find all information about the minors here (only accessible for AUAS students).

International guest students can enroll for a minor as so-called "free-movers" (Fee-paying Visiting Students or Independent Students or Contract Students), meaning they can study for one, at most two semesters without being part of a specific exchange program. (For exchange students other regulations apply. They should contact the international office of the faculty they are going to study at).

  • Students enrolled at institutions within the "Kies Op Maat" (KOM) network can rely on the formal protocols and regulations as stipulated in the KOM policies and procedures manual. Please refer to the list of participating institutions.
  • If you are a student at a higher education institution which is not affiliated with "Kies op Maat", then the following rules apply:
  • If the educational institution where you are studying does not want to cover the cost of the minor, then you can enrol in the minor as a course participant. In the academic year 2022-2023 the cost of the minor (30EC) is € 4.366. This amount must be paid before the start of the programme.
  • Based on Article 7:48, Paragraph 1 of the Dutch Higher Education and Research Act (WHW) and its elaboration in the memorandum Helderheid in de bekostiging van het hoger onderwijs (Clarity in the funding of higher education)(*) registering for a minor by means of a second enrolment is not permitted.
(*) Helderheid in de bekostiging van hoger onderwijs (Clarity in the funding of higher education), Memorandum from the State Secretary for Education, Culture and Science of 29 August 2003, published 9 January 2004.
  • International students, alumni and students enrolled at private institutions do not automatically meet the eligibility requirements and need to address the AUAS directly to negotiate possible participation. When accepted in the minor, students will have to pay any fee assessed for the minor themselves. AUAS minors charge € 4.366 for 30ECTS in academic year 2022-2023. This amount must be paid before the start of the programme.
  • Please take note of the limited number of available slots, students will be registered in order of application.

Check the website www.kiesopmaat.nl for the list of minors at AUAS (Hogeschool van Amsterdam) and a description of the registration procedure to be followed.
