AMFI - Amsterdam Fashion Institute (English Programme)

Graduates are well-prepared for the labour market. The three dimensions cover every possible Bachelor’s level fashion industry profession. Students and graduates will benefit from AMFI’s close ties to the national and international fashion industries and business sectors. AMFI also maintains a LinkedIn group for alumni. The site provides alumni with updates on important AMFI activities and invitations to various events, such as openings, symposia and final presentations.

As a creative talent, you will learn all there is to know about form, shape, colour, material and technique, as well as the social, economic and cultural aspects of fashion. You will develop a personal vision on fashion, which you will learn to translate into concrete fashion and styling concepts. Graduates can expect to work for companies such as G-Star, Ann Demeulemeester, H&M, Lanvin, Adidas, ELLE or Bijenkorf.

As you develop a more a business-minded attitude, you will gain a new, in-depth perspective on the fashion industry. As a graduate, your newly acquired management skills and insights will enable you to optimise the purchase, manufacturing and sale of clothing. You will also be equipped to address sustainability issues on behalf of clients such as Tommy Hilfiger, Hunkemöller, Diesel, Hugo Boss, Zeeman, Nike, C&A or Suitsupply.

Students with strong visual and writing skills will learn how each fashion brand is based on a concept. This concept is reflected in the brand’s designs, product ranges and communication and marketing strategies. You will learn to develop and maintain concepts, apply design principles and establish a brand strategy. Graduates can expect to work for fashion brands (Acne Studios, Adidas, Diesel), magazines (Glamcult, LInda), trend-watching, design and advertising agencies (Stijlinstituut, Concrete Associates, DDB) or companies (HEMA, Zalando, Scotch & Soda).
