Are you creative, ambitious, outspoken and passionate about fashion? Are you willing to work hard and take on the challenges of the fashion industry? The four-year Bachelor’s degree programme Fashion & Textile Technologies at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute allows you to develop your branding, design and business and development skills or combine aspects of these dimensions.


AMFI offers the only Bachelor’s degree programme in the Netherlands that covers the entire fashion chain: from design and manufacturing to distribution and communication. At AMFI you will explore the fashion world through the prism of three key dimensions: design, branding, and business and development. Different routes are offered through which you can deepen your knowledge but also broaden your vision. We educate you to become a creative & innovative fashion professional in the field of design, branding and business and development. AMFI offers its Bachelor’s degree programme in Dutch as well as in English, welcoming a group of international students from all over the world.

Career opportunities

We train students to become the designers and developers of a circular fashion industry, high-end professionals, and visionary thinkers. By the time you complete your studies at AMFI you will be a creative and innovative fashion professional who is able to work in a variety of settings in the Dutch or international fashion industry. The three dimensions of our programme cover every possible Bachelor’s level fashion industry profession. Roles include: independent designer, digital designer, buyer/product manager, creative producer, creative fashion developer, among others.

Admission criteria

To be admitted to AMFI you must hold a senior general secondary education (HAVO), pre-university (VWO) or senior secondary vocational education (MBO 4) diploma. If you have a senior general secondary education diploma with a Culture and Society profile you must have taken mathematics A or B. AMFI expects proficiency of spoken and written English. This programme has a selection procedure that consists of a homework assignment, an online multiple-choice test, a short college, an assignment on the selection day and a motivation interview.

Apply for entry

As there are more prospective students than study places, AMFI has a limited number of study places (around 430). Therefore, the programme has a selection procedure. Once your enrolment request has been received, AMFI will invite you to take part in the selection procedure. Enrolment for the 2022-2023 academic year opens on 1 October 2021. Enrol no later than 15 January via using your DigiD. Allow at least three working days to receive your DigiD. International students can create a Studielink-account without a DigiD. This programme is listed in DUO under the name Fashion & Textile Technologies.
