Admission requirements

AMFI - Amsterdam Fashion Institute (English Programme)

Admission to this degree programme requires a senior general secondary education (HAVO) pre-university (VWO) or senior secondary vocational education (MBO-4) diploma. Prospective students who have a senior general secondary education diploma with a Culture and Society profile must have taken mathematics A or B.


Nuffic assesses the value of foreign diplomas and whether or not they meet the requirements for admission. You should have completed secondary education at university entrance level and have a passing grade for Mathematics on your final diploma.

For example:

  • GCSE O-Levels in 4 subjects marks ranging from A*-C, + GCE in 2 subjects in AS-Levels (6 different subjects in total incl. Mathematics)
  • GCSE O-Levels in 3 subjects marks ranging from A*-C, + GCE in 3 subjects in A-Levels (6 different subjects in total)
  • BTEC Extended National Diploma (i.e. Fashion & Clothing, Textiles or Business Administration) (UK)
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma (International schools, UK and US)
  • Abitur or Fachhochschulreife (Germany and Austria)
  • Baccalauréat (France)

AMFI expects proficiency of spoken and written English. Non-native English speakers are required to sit an IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge test. IELTS (Overall score 6.0); TOEFL (iBT 80 or paperbased 550), TOEIC (LR670+SW290) or Cambridge (First (FCE) Grade B (173-175) /First (FCE) Grade C (169-172)).

The Language certificate is valid up to 2 years after received date.


To register for an AMFI programme for the academic year 2020-2021, you must complete your enrolment request in Studielink no later than 15 January 2020. Once you have completed your enrolment request, you will receive the selection information via email. Without uploading your selection form (homework), you will not be invited to participate in the selection day. AMFI advises you to also orientate yourself with other education programmes just in case you are not selected during the selection procedure.
