This page provides all the practical information you will need at the start of the academic year, as well as information about where to turn to with questions.

Due to the corona measures, the start of your studies this September will be different than in previous years. We understand that you have questions about this. Check out the FAQ for the most frequently asked questions.

Complete your enrolment

Your AUAS ID and password allow you to access AUAS ICT facilities. Your AUAS ID is stated in the welcome letter you were sent by email after you enrolled. Go to to activate your AUAS ID. Simply click on the 'Activate account' link and follow the instructions. Once you have done that, log in to your AUAS mailbox. Be sure to check your inbox regularly, or you might miss important information. Log in at using your AUAS ID and your password.

Have you paid your tuition fees and made all further steps required to finalise your enrolment? You cannot start your degree programme this September unless you have completed all the required steps. Once a proof of enrolment has been sent to your AUAS email address, you can be sure that your enrolment has been finalised.

How to prepare for a successful start? 

Every day's study begins with MyAUAS (the AUAS digital learning platform). Here you can log in with your AUAS ID and find your timetable, all you need to know about your courses, your grades and any messages from your lecturers. If a lecturer will be absent, you will be notified via MyAUAS. You will also find an A-Z list of practical information for your programme, including such things as ICT, facilities, regulations and supervision.

As a AUAS student you can get Office 365 ProPlus for free. This will give you access to the latest version of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. You can install the software on a maximum of 5 mobile devices and 5 laptops/fixed computers (Windows and Apple). Go to and use your AUAS ID and password to log in.

Museum card

We strongly advise you to get a museum card. You can purchase it online on: or at most of the museums in Amsterdam at the cash register.

Make sure you have purchased the card when you start the programme on 31 August.


Your laptop must have a minimum internal memory of 8 GB, and 256 GB storage. Here are some more specifications for a laptop.

List of books

There are no required books for this year.

All students who have accepted their place at AMFI will soon get an email with information about the start of the study year and the introduction program.

Introduction programme 2 till 15 September

Own contribution of 25 euros start study year material. Payment can be made by Debit card in the first week of September.

The course catalogue for your degree programme contains important information about the programme: the programme structure, your courses and the options available.

Every student is issued with a student ID card. These can be used for printing, borrowing books and payment at vending machines. To apply for your student ID card, simply upload your passport photo via This will require you to enter your AUAS ID, which has been sent to you by email. You will receive your student ID card at the end of August.

If you apply for your student ID card before 9 August, it will be sent to your correspondence address in the week of 18 – 22 August (the week before the AUAS induction week). If you apply for your student ID card between 9 August and 13 September, it will be sent to you within two working weeks. 

Once you have received your student ID card, you will need to activate it (once only) at one of the service points in the AUAS buildings. Please bring along a valid ID.

NB: if you do not live in the Netherlands, your student ID card will not be sent to your home address. It will be ready for you to collect from one of the service points

The academic year commences on Monday, 31 August. You will receive information regarding your group division at a later date. Once you have your group number, you will be able to view your schedule at You can link your schedule to calendar application on your mobile phone e.g. Outlook, Google Calendar, iCalendar. Go to the AUAS annual schedule to find out how the academic year is structured and when the holiday periods are scheduled.

AMFI has its own annual schedule (log in with AUAS-id). Please check this schedule regularly to see how the semester is established. Information about evaluation weeks as well the national holidays will be posted here.

If you have a disability or chronic illness, this might affect your study progress. In many cases, this entitles you to special facilities, such as additional time on tests or a customised chair.

If you suffer from dyslexia, you can request additional time on tests online. You will need your AUAS ID for this. For more information, go to studying with a disability or chronic illness and read the section on dyslexia.

Your first days at the AUAS

All AUAS students can obtain fast and secure access to the internet via the ‘hva’ or ‘eduroam’ network, which allows access to all information systems. To obtain access to the network, you will be required to complete a number of steps once only. Once you have done that, you will always connect automatically at all AUAS locations.

ISN aims to facilitate the social and cultural integration of international students in Dutch society and in Amsterdam in particular.
