AMFI - Amsterdam Fashion Institute (English Programme)

Fashion is a serious business. Behind the façade of luxury and glamour lies one of the largest and most dynamic global industries. AMFI – Amsterdam Fashion Institute students explore the fashion world through the prism of three key dimensions: design, management and branding. Are you creative, ambitious, outspoken and passionate about fashion? Are you willing to work hard and take on the challenges of the fashion industry? A four-year full-time Bachelor’s degree programme at AMFI - Amsterdam Fashion Institute provides a solid basis for your career in the Dutch or international fashion industry.

THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR YOU?

AMFI puts you in control of your own development. You can make many choices concerning your own programme over the course of your studies. In addition to specialising in design, management or branding, you can also opt to combine various dimensions. See below for an overview of key topics for each dimension. 

  • Design: design, concepts and trends, creating a collection, knowledge of textiles, pattern design, realisation, drawing and visualisation. 
  • Management: knowledge of textiles, creating a collection, product theory, ICT logistics, international operational management, knowledge of the retail sector, management skills and economics. 
  • Branding: concepts and trends, brand strategy, marketing and visual communication, writing for a target group, design knowledge, spatial and graphic design and visual merchandising.

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BECOME?

AMFI prepares you for all fashion industry professions at Bachelor’s level. Amongst other positions, graduates can work as designers at clothing brands such as Diesel, Fashion Forecasters at magazines such as Second Sight, Production Managers at Suitsupply or Concept Developers at brands such as Adidas.

WHY CHOOSE AMFI AT THE AUAS?

  • AMFI is the only Bachelor’s degree programme in the Netherlands to cover the entire fashion chain: from design and manufacturing to distribution and communication.
  • International educational profile. AMFI is a member of the International Foundation of Fashion Technology Institutes (IFFTI), the International Apparel Federation (IAF) and the Cumulus Association.
