Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences

Enrolment and selection

European School of Physiotherapy

As there are more prospective students than study places, ESP has a limited number of study places (120). Therefore, the programme has a selection procedure.

For the 2020-2021 academic year, make sure to enrol between 1 October 2019 and 15 January 2020 at the latest.

STEP 1: Check here to see if you meet the requirements to enrol in the European School of Physiotherapy.

STEP 2: Apply through Studielink, by completing the online application form.

STEP 3: Download the ESP Application Form to your computer. Complete the form in Adobe Reader, save, and submit via email to esp@hva.nl.

The deadline for enrolment is January 15, 2020. Make sure you have completed all steps and uploaded all your documents before this date. After January 15, 2020 it’s no longer possible to apply for the programme.

If you have completed your application on time and you have submitted your documents, you will receive the invite for the selection day.

All applications that meet the official requirements will be invited to the selection day. The selection for the academic year 2020-2021 will take place on the following date:

  • March 14, 2020

Make sure to mark this date on your calendar.

You will receive the invite for the selection day and the exact planning of the day on February 15, 2020 by email. Please note that all applicants will be invited to come to Amsterdam, in person on the selection day as we value personal (face-to-face) contact. For non-EU students we offer a Skype interview as an alternative. Please include a Skype request in your application form email in a timely manner so we can plan ahead. We have reserved 60 Skype interview slots as special service.

The selection day consists of:

  • Two interviews with ESP lecturers - in these interviews you will get questions on the view of the profession, motivation and study skills and attitude.
  • Written exam - in this exam you will receive a text in the field of anatomy, biomechanics and/or physiology. The exam consists of multiple choice questions that aim to check your understanding after having read these texts. Prior knowledge in these fields can help, but is not needed in order to perform well in this exam.

You will also have the opportunity to meet your prospective fellow students and lecturers.

Once the full application package has been received the invite will be emailed to all applicants, including instructions for preparation of the selection day.

Did you participate in the selection? On 1 April 2020, you will receive your selection results directly from the AUAS and your ranking number through Studielink.

The ranking number is based on your results in the selection. If your ranking number falls within the maximum number of places, you will also receive a placement certificate through Studielink on 15 April. You must accept your placement certificate through Studielink within two weeks.

If your ranking number is higher than 120, there is a possibility of obtaining a placement certificate only if places become available after 30 April (because selected candidates did not accept their placement certificate). The AUAS will issue placement certificates through Studielink until 15 August 2020 at the latest.

Please note that mails from the AUAS could end up in your spam box. Make sure to check your spam box regularly.
