Study load

This programme offers a minimum of 6 contact hours per week during the first year of your studies. One contact hour is equivalent to one teaching hour of 50 minutes. Each academic year includes 42 weeks of lessons per year.

Contact time

The contact time within the degree programme comprises of lectures, seminars, team work, projects and tutorials. The number of contact hours per week in the first year is 6 hours. Contact hours are considered equivalent to 50-minute teaching hours.

Self-study

In addition to the contact hours, you will spend about 14-20 hours working on projects and research on your own, completing assignments, and preparing for classes and examinations through self-study.

Next to the hours spent studying at home, these self-study hours include a considerable number of hours spent at your work station in order to work on assignments, research and class preparation as relevant to the employer and the programme.

Binding Study Advice

Each academic year, you can earn 60 credits. If you earn less than 50 credits, AUAS will issue a negative binding study advice (BSA). This means you will not be able to continue the programme. You will then meet with your study coach to discuss whether another degree programme would be more suitable for you. One credit equals 28 hours of study.
