Sport Studies - track ISMB

This page provides all the practical information you will need at the start of the academic year, as well as information about where to turn to with questions.

1. Complete your enrolment

Have you paid your tuition fees yet and made all further steps required to finalise your enrolment? You cannot start your degree programme this September unless you have completed all the required steps. Once a proof of enrolment has been sent to your AUAS email address, you can be sure that your enrolment has been finalised. If you have enrolled for several programmes, please withdraw your other enrolment requests via Studielink.

2. Make sure to prepare properly

Every day’s study begins with MyAUAS ('MijnHvA', the AUAS digital learning platform). Log in with your AUAS ID to find your timetable, info on your courses, your marks and any messages from your lecturers. If a lecturer will be absent, you will be notified via MyAUAS. You will also find an A-Z list of practical information for your programme, including such things as ICT, facilities, regulations and supervision.

The course catalogue for your degree programme contains important information about the curriculum: the programme structure, your courses and the options available. The course catalogue is available from 1 July.

The definitive reading list for Sport Studies - track ISMB will be published no later than 1 July on the Athenaeum Bookstore website. You can also order your books on this website.


As a AUAS student you can get Office 365 ProPlus for free. This will give you access to the latest version of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. You can install the software on a maximum of 5 mobile devices and 5 laptops/fixed computers (Windows and Apple). Go to and use your AUAS ID and password to log in.

Do you want to make optimal use of the facilities at the AUAS? Then a laptop is very useful. It is also advisable to have a powerbank to charge your laptop so that you do not need to depend on the power points in the Dr. Meurer building.

Every student is issued with a student ID card. These can be used for printing, borrowing books and payment at vending machines. To apply for your student ID card, simply upload your passport photo via This will require you to enter your AUAS ID, which has been sent to you by email. You will receive your student ID card at the end of August.

If you apply for your student ID card before 8 August, it will be sent to your correspondence address in the week of 17 – 21 August. If you apply for your student ID card between 8 August and 12 September, it will be sent to you within two working weeks.

Activating student ID card

Once you have received your student ID card, you will need to activate it (once only) at one of the service points in the AUAS buildings. Please bring along a valid ID.

Please note: if you do not live in the Netherlands, your student ID card will not be sent to your home address. It will be ready for you to collect from the service desk (first floor) in the Dr. Meurer building.

The academic year commences on Monday 24 August, starting with the Sport Studies introduction week. Your first classes will follow a week later. Group lists will be communicated during the introduction week.

Once you have your group list, you will be able to check your timetable at You can link your timetable to calendar applications such as Outlook, Google Calendar, iCalendar or the calendar application on your mobile phone. Go to the AUAS academic calendar to find out how the academic year is structured and when the holiday periods are scheduled.

If you have a disability or chronic illness, this might affect your study progress. In many cases, this entitles you to special facilities, such as additional time on tests or a customised chair. Please please contact the student counsellor for your programme about this.

If you have dyslexia, you can request additional time on tests online. You will need your AUAS ID for this. For more information, go to studying with a disability or chronic illness and read the section on dyslexia.

3. Your first days at the AUAS

The introduction week at Sport Studies – track ISMB takes place the week before the first lectures, from Monday 24 August through Thursday 27 August 2020. The Sport Studies - track ISMB introduction week is an unforgettable experience. It is organised by current students in order to welcome you to our faculty family. Within the four days full of adventure and excitement, you will get to know all of your fellow peers as well as explore your new home city Amsterdam. It is a week full of fun activities and community.  

Are you ready to enjoy yourself with a once in a lifetime experience? Then pack your bags and we will see you at the introduction week! The organisation team will send you all the information regarding programme, costs, what to bring etc. Your attendance during the introduction week is highly desired – if you are unable to attend, you need to tell the organisation team in advance. 

All AUAS students can obtain fast and secure access to the internet via the ‘hva’ or ‘eduroam’ network, which allows access to to all information systems. To obtain access to the network, you will be required to complete a number of steps once only. Once you have done that, you will always connect automatically at all AUAS locations. 

You can rent a locker in the Dr. Meurer building for approximately  €17,- per year (definite price is yet to be determined).

  • You can rent a locker between Monday 31 August until Friday 11 September 2020 between 8:30-16:00 hrs.
  • During these two weeks you can visit a temporarily locker desk situated on the first floor of the Dr. Meurer building. Do you want to rent a locker after this period, please go to the service desk on the first floor.
  • The yearly rent for a locker must be paid with your student ID card.

To help you get settled in Amsterdam you can join the International Student Network (ISN). ISN is a student-run organisation of both the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) and the University of Amsterdam. ISN aims to facilitate the social and cultural integration of international students in Dutch society and in Amsterdam in particular.
