On completion of this master's degree programme, you can truly consider yourself an expert in your subject area. You'll have gained in-depth knowledge of literature (both ancient and modern) and linguistics (including sociolinguistics) and improved your teaching knowledge and skills. Because we understand that your current job means you're busy, the timetable is flexible and designed around your work life. Expect around 20 hours of self-study a week in addition to six hours of time spent in class. The degree programme starts in September and has a duration of 2.5 years. Teaching takes place on Thursdays between 12:50 and 21:10. The academic year consists of 40 weeks. The programme comprises a total of 90 credits, with one credit equal to 28 hours of study.

When you graduate from this programme, you'll be qualified to teach English as a subject in the upper years of senior general secondary (HAVO) and pre-university (VWO) education. You'll also be qualified to teach in higher professional education.

To gain admission to this master's degree programme, you'll need a Bachelor of Education with a specialisation in English from a university of applied sciences or a Bachelor in English in combination with a teaching minor from a research university. You must also complete an intake procedure to obtain a confirmation of admission from the master's degree programme examinations board.

If the admission decision is positive, you'll receive a confirmation of admission from the examinations board, which you need in order to enrol. You can subsequently enrol in Studielink, for which you need a DigiD. You must complete your enrolment by no later than 31 August 2020.
