Dear students, student representatives and facilitators,

My name is Leonie. I’m a student at Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences and a student assistant for the U!REKA Network. Have you heard about it? U!REKA stands for the Urban Research and Education Knowledge Alliance. It's a great network of 8 European universities of applied sciences, in Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Frankfurt, Ghent, Helsinki, Oslo, Ostrava and Lisbon.

Zoom event 25 May

We are currently planning a Zoom event to bring together students and student representatives from different U!REKA universities for an exchange on self-selected, student-relevant topics. This event is going to take place online on Tuesday, 25May. Please note the local times:

14:30 (Edinburgh, Lisbon)

15:30 CET (Frankfurt, Gent, Ostrava, Amsterdam, Oslo)

16:30 (Helsinki)

The U!REKA consortium aims to promote exchange in the areas of teaching, research, work and study between the various partner universities. Now such networking and exchange should also take place at the student level, which in my opinion is also a very important development, especially for representing student interests in and beyond the own university context. Besides wanting to hear about your ideas and relevant topics for collaboration, in this first meeting we would also like to address the topic of student well-being in times of Covid-19 as we consider it to be a very important and relevant topic.

Why should you join us?

By getting involved in the network, you will get the opportunity to establish international contacts, engage in exchange on different topics and receive mutual support and inspiration on how to approach them. In the long run, we hope that the representation of student interests can be further developed and enforced in a transnational/international manner.

You can already view the programme here:
1. Welcome
2. Introduction: The Urban Research and Education Knowledge Alliance (U!REKA)
3. Short introduction to 4 Questions for breakout session of student groups
4. Breakout sessions of student groups
5. Concluding plenary and next steps

If you are interested in this event and networking, it would be great if we could get into contact about it and about the various topics you'd like to discuss. I would be happy if you could indicate your interest by sending me an email to urekastudents@metropolia.fi and I am of course also available for further questions.

Hope to see you soon at our event.

Best regards,

Leonie
