Symposium: 'Perspectives on research-education change mechanisms'

Location: Muller-Lulofs building, room 01A30

In this symposium four reflections on research-education connections lead up to the festive book launch of ‘Creating the Desire for Change in Higher Education: The Amsterdam Path to the Research-Teaching Nexus’. Five speakers share their view on the new book in relation to fostering research-education connections in the higher education system. Four perspectives are included: international, national, local and applied perspective. The symposium is open to anyone interested, and closes with an informal drinks reception.

Change mechanisms to alter research–education connections

The book ‘Creating the Desire for Change in Higher Education: The Amsterdam Path to the Research-Teaching Nexus’ focuses on the change approaches needed to alter research–education connections in higher education institutions. Changing research–education connections focuses on not only changing actions of academics in teaching, but also the multiple layers of organisational change that need to be altered when changing research–education connections as such. This book provides the conceptual knowledge for creating situational change mechanisms to alter research–education connections with a specific focus on one or more organisational levels in a particular university.

Strategic program Research into Education (OiO)

The book is grounded in the change and support program Research into Education (OiO), which was active from 2015-2020. Over the years, this program has helped many practitiors within Amsterdam UAS, but also throughout The Netherlands and beyond by sharing knowledge, providing coaching and monitoring the development of research-education connections. The book is edited by Dr. Didi Griffioen, former program leader of the Amsterdam UAS strategic program Research into Education (OiO), who is currently professor of Higher Education, Research and Innovation at Amsterdam UAS.
