On Thursday 11 June 2020 at 1:30 PM, Patricia de Vries will defend her thesis ‘Algorithmic Anxiety in Contemporary Art: A Kierkegaardian Inquiry into the Imaginary of Possibility’ via Zoom. Patricia de Vries, researcher and project coordinator at the Network Culture research group, will obtain her doctorate from Erasmus University Rotterdam. Her research focuses on the narratives and imagination of emerging technologies in the arts. In her dissertation she introduces 'algorithmic anxiety' as a term for the analysis of a western representation of algorithms in the work of a growing number of media artists.
