Training for excellence (T4x)

Project

The Netherlands has the ambition to maintain a steady position in the top 10 sports countries in the world. Moreover, it also wants to be a global leader in stage arts like music and dance. However, the Netherlands is still a fairly small country with limited means. That is why the Training for Excellence research project is working to develop high-quality training programmes with the aim of achieving maximum results with less money and fewer hours spent.

Training for Excellence is a RAAK public sector research project (partly funded by SIA: RAAK.PUB04.027) that focuses on applied research into smart and innovative practice methods in sport, music and dance. Its goal is to help talented people in the Netherlands train as efficiently as possible using the limited time available to them.

We are looking to answer the following questions:

  • How can high-quality practice methods be translated into and used for the benefit of the day-to-day practice of sport, music and dance?
  • How is using smart practice methods assessed by participants and supervisors (trainers, coaches, teachers) in the day-to-day practice of sport, music and dance?

We aim to contribute to various talent programmes and in doing so help the Netherlands claim its place as a global leader in sport, music and dance. We work together closely with our consortium partners from the various domains and conduct research in the living labs.

This study is being conducted under the auspices of the Amsterdam Institute of Sport Science (AISS) , a sports innovation centre in which the parties below have joined forces. The AISS conducts research into practical issues regarding sport, exercise and health.
