Executive Board member Hanneke Reuling will step down from the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) on 1 April. She will join the executive board at the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences.

Hanneke has served as Vice-Chair of the AUAS Executive Board since 2017. She manages various portfolios, including financial policy and management, campus development and real estate strategy, integrated security policy, and the provision of shared services offered in conjunction with the University of Amsterdam.

Contributions

The AUAS Supervisory Board and remaining two members of the Executive Board regret Hanneke's departure. "We wish her the best of luck as she takes this new step and thank Hanneke for her efforts, dedication and service" says the Chair of the Supervisory Board. "Hanneke has meant a lot to the AUAS, for example through her significant contribution to the development of education during the corona lockdowns, which affected the very heart and soul of education. In addition to the major cyberattack of 2021 – which she and colleagues managed to repel − we are also very pleased with the Jakoba Mulder building which was designed by an alum of the AUAS construction engineering degree programme and opened its doors under her watchful eye."

Privilege

Hanneke looks back fondly on her time at the AUAS. "Although I am delighted with my new position, it also pains me to say goodbye to the AUAS. After six years of serving as vice-chair of this wonderful university of applied sciences I still consider it a priviledge, every day, to be part of it. I very much enjoyed working with my fellow executive board members, Jopie Nooren and Geleyn Meijer, as well as my peers outside of the AUAS and the entire AUAS community."

Back to her roots

By switching to Rotterdam UAS, Hanneke is also returning to her roots. She will be tasked with connecting education and research better with one another and to issues in the city of Rotterdam. This is the place where her career in higher education began, and this time she will return in an administrative role.

The supervisory board will start searching for a successor for Hanneke’s position.
