We believe that smart city projects can create more impact – and more effective ecosystems – if we learn from each other and share the tools and skills needed to make our cities smarter.

Smart City Academy therefore serves as a knowledge hub for Amsterdam Smart City, as we develop knowledge, research and education about the do’s and don’ts of smart city projects. Our goal is to accelerate and elevate your smart city project, as we unravel the ‘Amsterdam’ approach and the key elements of making an impact in Amsterdam’s innovative ecosystem. A vital part of our mission is to share this knowledge with the professionals today and tomorrow.

We are a partner of Amsterdam Smart City and work with many businesses, startups, students and local governments, such as Gemeente Amsterdam and the Platform Smart Cities and Citizens (website in Dutch).

As we initiated Smarter Bendigo, we looked around the world to see what other cities were doing. As we looked, we found a most informative report on all aspects of Smart Amsterdam. We have used this report extensively in our design, thinking and approach to developing Smarter Bendigo. The report was invaluable in helping us to understand how we approach measuring our activities, and was instructional in providing us with the confidence to obtain our own independent evaluators – we are now partnering with Deakin and LaTrobe Universities, in Victoria, Australia.
Glen Pomeroy, A/Director Smarter Bendigo in Australia - Bendigo is the third largest city in Victoria, Australia and has just initiated a Smart City program. They are also the first City in Victoria to sign up to the GSC3.
