Entrepreneurship education for the acquisition of entrepreneurial expertise
AbstractQuestions we care about Entrepreneurship education (EE) has grown exponentially over the last decade. A shift can be observed from teaching about entrepreneurship to teach for and through entrepreneurship (Lackéus, 2015) where learning by experience is essential (Honig, 2004). Despite the awareness of the importance of didactics for EE, there is a paucity of studying didactical methods that lead to the acquisition of entrepreneurial expertise and mindset (Krueger, 2015). The development of entrepreneurial expertise is essential to decrease the naivety and ‘social waste’ of resources by entrepreneurs (de Meza & Southey, 1996). Research shows that expertise can only be acquired through long efforts of deliberate practice (DP) (Ericsson, Krampe, & Tesch-Römer, 1993). Therefore, the main research question that this study will address is “how does deliberate practice in EE influence the acquisition of entrepreneurial expertise by the students in higher education?”
