About the Centre of Expertise Applied Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science permeate every aspect of society. Scientific developments in these areas occur at a rapid pace, and applications influence all sectors and professions – to a greater or lesser extent – for which training is provided by the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS).
The AUAS therefore established the Centre of Expertise (CoE) Applied Artificial Intelligence on 1 January 2020. With this CoE, the university is investing in the development of research and education on applied AI in all faculties and programmes.
Developments in AI and Data Science have raised a number of questions in the government, in businesses and in the public debate. This includes questions related to education and talent, as well as societal, social, ethical and technical questions. How do we want to shape AI in society? How can we design solutions that are actually adopted by professionals?
From scientific AI technology to practical solutions
The Centre of Expertise Applied Artificial Intelligence addresses these questions by putting the scientific AI technology into practice in meaningful applications. We join forces in an ecosystem of education, research, commercial businesses, non-profit organisations, government and academic institutions. In this way we link the applied research and education of the AUAS to social and other issues faced by businesses and organisations.
Part of a strong AI ecosystem
We actively contribute to the knowledge and development of methods to integrate data and AI in organisations, degree programmes and society in a meaningful way. We have our roots in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area and are therefore part of a strong innovative business network. We work closely with the University of Amsterdam, VU Amsterdam and the Centre for Mathematics & Computer Science in the coalition Amsterdam AI.
The Centre of Expertise Applied Artificial Intelligence works on solutions with today’s professionals and prepares the professionals of the future for the digital transition.
