Louise Elffers is professor of Promising School Careers in a Diverse City at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) and university lecturer in Educational Sciences at the University of Amsterdam (UvA).

The focus of her research is on the design of education and education systems as well as the effect of this design on the school careers of young people from varying educational and personal backgrounds. She is particularly interested in equal opportunities in education. With her research, she aims to help improve the educational opportunities for students who move on from vocational education to higher professional education and first-generation students in higher education. To this end, she has recently developed tools such as a practical guideline for safeguarding the accessibility of higher professional education, which is not only applied in higher professional education institutions, but also included in the Strategic Knowledge Agenda of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.
