Surveys (Microsoft Forms)

Do you want to set up an online survey for your research?

With Microsoft Forms software it is relatively easy to design and conduct online surveys. This software is available for all students and employees of the AUAS.

Microsoft Forms

Microsoft Forms is suitable for building and conducting surveys. You have various options regarding the structure and the type of questions. The results are neatly presented and can easily be exported to Excel or SPSS.

An AUAS template is available in Dutch and English.

Privacy is a fundamental right. Before conducting a survey, think about how you deal with the privacy of your respondents. The following rules of thumb are important if you work with personal data in Qualtrics:

  • Start a survey with the consent form.
  • Only store information that is strictly necessary for your survey.
  • Pseudonymize (mandatory) or anonymize (if possible) your data.
  • Do not use email triggers that automatically forward responses to an alternate email address.
  • When you survey is concluded: remove the collected data from Qualtrics.

Qualtrics

Qualtrics is another survey tool that is basically unavailable to students. Only a small group of students have been given permission to use the tool for research yet.

Instructional video's

Qualtrics has a good support center. You will find extensive documentation there. In addition, there are Basecamp instruction videos and you can contact Qualtrics' support center to admit a support ticket. To make use of the latter two, you need to follow the next steps:

1. Head to hva.eu.qualtrics.com
2. Log In
3. Go to help (top right)
4. Choose 'Support site' if you want video instructions and follow step 5, or choose 'Contact support' and continue with step 6.
5. For video instructions choose 'Training on XM Basecamp'.
6. Go to Log In (top right) and choose 'Sign in with SSO'.
7. Fill in 'hva' at Organization ID
8. You are now either in the Basecamp site with videos or in the support center to admit a support ticket.


Problems signing in?

If you are unable to log in at Qualtrics, first make sure that your HvA-ID and password are correct. You can check this by logging in to profile.surfconext.nl in an 'incognito or InPrivate' browser window. If you still can't log in, please contact the ICTS Service Desk, 020-595 1402 or servicedesk-icts@hva.nl.
