General

Yes, you can return your books at all AUAS library locations. You do not need to show a library card to return your books.

This is often a student card problem. You can inquire whether your card has already been validated at the AUAS service desk. You can reach the AUAS service desk by calling +31 (0)20 595 14 03.

Loans and Renewals

All loans are automatically renewed (except 1-day loans), unless the book has been reserved by someone else. After the automatic renewal, you will have to return the book and will only be able to renew it at the library desk. Go to all about borrowing and renewals or ask the library.

Can't find the book in our catalogue? You could always check out worldcat.org. This is a global catalogue from which you can access books held by other libraries. Read more about borrowing from other libraries or submit a request .

You can borrow a maximum of 50 materials at a time. A maximum of 100 applies to AUAS employees. Read more about borrowing & renewals.

The AUAS library has an extensive online collection that you can find via the catalogue or databases.

No, at most locations you can only consult journals on site. You can also find journal articles in the databases. Of course, we also have online journals in our catalogue .

If you’ve found the book you’re looking for in the catalogue, you can reserve it and have it delivered to the location of your choice.

Yes, you can. You can loan. You can request University of Amsterdam items via the catalogue and have them delivered to an AUAS library location.

Studying

Yes, you can loan a Chromebook at the Wibauthuis library location (1-day loan).

Yes, you can loan headphones at most library locations. Ask at the counter.

At the Wibauthuis location, students can book 6 project rooms on the first and second floor of the library. You can book these rooms on hva.mapiq.net . You can book the room on the day you need it. When you need the room, come to the counter on the second floor and show your booking so that we can open the door for you.

All about Searching

There could be several reasons, such as your browser, firewall or VPN connection. View your options and manuals on how to solve the problem.

You can access theses and studies in the HBO database and AUAS database.

Teaching

Under the easy access scheme, lecturers are allowed to use up to 50 pages from any publication, with a maximum of 25% of the total publication and subject to acknowledgement of the source. Lecturers are also allowed to use up to 50 figures or images per presentation, subject to a maximum of 25 figures from the same publication and a maximum of 10 figures or images from the same creator.
