AUAS Library

Access to Collection Outside AUAS

Consulting databases and journal articles

The Library of the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS Library) has dozens of subscriptions to databanks and e-journals. You can access these in all AUAS buildings without logging in. But what do you do as an AUAS employee or student when at home or outside of the AUAS network?

There are two options:

Option 1

Once you click on a databank in the A-Z list on the AUAS Library website, a login window will appear where you can log in with your AUAS ID. Once logged in, you will have access to all databanks and e-journals.

Option 2

Another option is to use apps.hva.nl. This has a number of advantages.

apps.hva.nl is the AUAS' virtual ICT work environment. Through apps.hva.nl, you can access the software on your AUAS computer from your home computer or another device. This provides secure and easy access to the AUAS Library databanks as well as to the links to these, such as from Google Scholar. You can also use apps.hva.nl to access any files stored on your AUAS computer.

Manuals for apps.hva.nl

Would you like to use apps.hva.nl? Download the Citrix Receiver to your device (this only needs to be done once per device). To do this, follow the steps in the manual.

Go to the manual in the A-Z list

LOGGING IN OUTSIDE AUAS IS NOT WORKING. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

Sometimes it will prove impossible to log in from home, a company or an organisation where you are doing a work placement. This can have various causes:

  • It could be that you are trying to access a databank or e-journal that AUAS does not subscribe to. Only the titles listed under databases and digital journals can be accessed with an AUAS ID.
  • Check your browser settings. The 'accept cookies' option must be activated. Privacy needs to be set to 'Medium'.
  • You are using a firewall. You have activated a firewall yourself, or the company or institution where your PC is uses a firewall. When configuring your firewall software, the 2048 and 2443 ports must be open.
  • You do not have a valid AUAS ID and/or password. Check your AUAS ID and password, for instance by opening your AUAS webmail. If this proves impossible, please contact an AUAS Service Point in one of the AUAS buildings or call +31 (0)20 595 1400.
  • Try logging in with another browser.

Should you still have any problems, please contact the ICTS Servicedesk.
