Forgotten your password?

If you have forgotten your password, you can set a new one. Do this on the device you work with the most. This can be an AUAS managed ICT workstation or a Self managed ICT workstation. Only after doing so, proceed with changing your password on your other (mobile or personal) devices. Choose the situation that applies to you below.

Please note! It is important to carefully follow all the steps on your managed workspace. This will prevent your AUAS ID from being blocked because your devices will automatically keep trying to connect with the old password.

Does your new password not work immediately, even though you followed all the steps? Sometimes it takes a while for the system to accept your new password. This can take a few minutes, but unfortunately in some cases also a few hours. So please be patient and try again before calling the ICT Services Service Desk.

PREPARATION

Step 1 (on your ICT workstation)

With the exception of your managed ICT workspace, switch off all other (personal and/or mobile) devices that you use to access AUAS services. This includes all the devices you use to check your AUAS email or calendar, for example.

Step 2

Close all applications and save your files, as you will need to restart your ICT workstation later in the process.

Step 3

Make sure you are connected to VPN: type 'Pulse Secure' into the search field in the lower left-hand corner of the task bar. Then open Pulse Secure. You will see 'HVA VPN connected' with a green and white check mark behind it if your VPN is on. If not, click on 'Connect' and log in with your AUAS ID.

SET NEW PASSWORD

Step 1 (On your managed ICT workstation)

  • Go to id.hva.nl and choose the option 'Forgot password'.
  • Then follow the steps on the website. If you receive the message 'The data entered does not match the data in our system' when entering the requested data, please contact the Servicedesk ICT Services by telephone on 020 595 1402.
  • You will receive a confirmation of the password change on your AUAS-mail from the Servicedesk ICT Services (servicedesk-icts@hva.nl). If you have a private email address in DSPE, you will also receive the confirmation on that address.

Step 2

Check again if you are connected to VPN. See step 3 of the preparation if you are not sure.

Step 3

  • Lock your ICT workstation via the Windows key+L
  • Next, unlock your ICT workstation with your new password.

Step 4

Restart your ICT workstation.

Step 5 (On your other devices)

After you have changed the password on your ICT workstation, you will also need to set the new password on all the other (mobile and/or personal) devices on which you use your AUAS account. Do not switch on all your devices at the same time, but do this one by one after you have changed the passwords for each of them. This is important because your devices will automatically try to connect at the same time using the old password, which may cause your account to be blocked.

Change the passwords immediately for all applications (such as Office, Microsoft 365, including Teams, OneDrive, mail and calendar) or services (such as VPN, printing, AUAS Wi-Fi) that you use on those devices. In the drop-down menus, you will find tips on how to do this for each application or service.

Does your new password not work immediately, even though you followed all the steps? Sometimes it takes a while for the system to accept your new password. This can take a few minutes, but unfortunately in some cases also a few hours. So please be patient and try again before calling the ICT Services Service Desk.

Please note that it is important tot follow the steps below carefully. If you don't, your AUAS ID may be blocked because devices will automatically keep trying to connect to the old password.

PREPARATION

With the exception of your ICT workstation, turn off all other personal and/or mobile devices that you use to access AUAS services. Think about all the devices you use to check your AUAS email or calendar, for example.

SET NEW PASSWORD

Step 2

Determine whether you are working on an AUAS account or on a local account. This determines the steps to take.

  1. Mac and Linux always work with a local account.
  2. Windows can work with either an AUAS or a local account. You can determine your account type as follows:
  • Click on the Windows menu via the icon at the bottom left of your screen and click on 'settings' (the little wheel).
  • Choose 'account' (puppet icon) in the overview. If you see your AUAS mail address there, you are on an AUAS account. If you see 'local account' or your private email address, you are working on a local account.

I have an AUAS account

Your computer password will change automatically. Most basic services linked to your AUAS ID are automatically updated with your new password. However, some services may ask you for your new password. Please take this into account. You can continue to step 3.

I have a local account

Your computer password does not change and you do not need to. However, you will need to provide all the services linked to your AUAS ID with your new password yourself: unfortunately, this does not happen automatically. We have listed the most important ones for you. How to do this is explained per topic in the drop-down menus. Once you have done this, go to step 3.

Have you forgotten the password for your UvAnetID, which you have in addition to your AUAS ID (primary account)? Then follow the instructions below.

  • Go to id.uva.nl and select 'Forgot password'.
  • Follow the steps on the website. If you receive the message 'The data entered does not match the data in our system' when entering the requested data, please contact the Servicedesk ICT Services by telephone on 020 595 1402.

In a managed ICT workstation, your network drives are automatically linked. If you use Citrix for your own ICT workstation, your network drives are also linked. If you want to mount your network drives outside of Citrix, you can take the following steps.

AUAS (LINKING V-DRIVE OR W-DRIVE):

Preparation: Make sure you are connected to the wireless network Eduroam or AUAS (on location). At home or elsewhere you can use VPN (Pulse Secure) to connect to the AUAS network.

Windows

  1. Open the File Explorer.
  2. Right-click on your network drive and Disconnect.
  3. Right-click This Computer/This PC > Map Network Drive. (Make network connection).
  4. Select as Drive/Network drive letter: V:
  5. Type in behind Folder: \\filer01.ad.hva.nl\group_mdw_001.
  6. Check 'Reconnect at logon' and 'Sign in using different credentials' and click Finish.
  7. Log in with AD\AUAS ID ( “AD\” directly followed by your AUAS ID) and your corresponding AUASpassword.

Mac

  2. Click on Go> Connect to server in the menu bar.
  3. Connect to the following server: smb://filer01.ad.hva.nl/group_mdw_001.

For the W-drive, the steps are more or less the same, but you have to fill in a personal network path in step 4 (Windows) and step 3 (macOS).

It may happen that eduroam does not accept the new password and keeps asking for the password.

In that case you need to visit wifiportal.hva.nl again.

Follow these instructions:

  1. Connect to the wireless network 'HvA Open Wi-Fi' via your network settings.
  2. A new window opens. If not, open your browser. Enter 'Connect'. You hereby accept the terms.
  3. Open your Internet browser and go to http://wifiportal.hva.nl. This page automatically checks which operating system you use (e.g. Windows, Mac OS or Android).
  4. * Make sure that the correct operating system is checked and click on ‘JoinNow’.
  5. * Enter your AUAS ID@hva.nl (NB: this is not your email address) and your password. The correct settings will now begin to download.

* It is possible that steps 4 and 5 are reversed depending on the type of device you are using.

Once you have completed these steps, you will be automatically connected to 'eduroam' or 'hva'. If you are not connected automatically, then connect to the network manually.
