AUAS Library

Pure & HvA Research Database

Through the new HvA Research Database, the AUAS is making available research output in Pure (e.g. publications, activities and lectures) accessible to the general public.

Anyone who wishes to find out more about the registered research output of the AUAS can find this in the database for each researcher, professorship, knowledge centre and Centre of Expertise. The Research Database is a collaboration between the AUAS Education & Research Department, the AUAS Communication Department and the UvA/AUAS Library.

Frequently Asked Questions

In the HvA Research Database you will find profiles of AUAS researchers , their research output (including publications), but also activities, prizes, press / media and datasets from Pure are displayed.

The Pure records with the status For approval, Approved and Validated are displayed on the HvA Research Database. Pure records with the workflow status Entry in Progress are not displayed on the HvA Research Database.

If you have output (e.g. an entered publication, lecture or prize) in Pure, your profile will be visible in the HvA Research Database by default. Go to the HvA Research Database .

Yes, you can change the visibility of your profile.

If you do not have output in Pure, your profile will not be visible by default in the HvA Research Database.

If you would like to make your profile public anyway in this case, please do the following:

  1. Go to Pure .
  2. Click on Edit Profile > Edit Metadata.
  3. Set the field Visibility to Public.

If you wish to hide your entire profile, please do the following:

  1. Go to Pure .
  2. Click on Edit Profile > Edit metadata.
  3. Scroll all the way down to the Visibility field and set this field to Backend – Restricted to Pure users.

The HvA Research Database is linked to Pure. Changes cannot be made in the HvA Research Database itself. This takes place via Pure.

  1. Go to Pure .
  2. Click on Edit Profile.
  3. Then click on one of the four tabs (Metadata, Portal profile, Highlighted content or Fingerprints) to modify, supplement and/or change the visibility of fields.

The HvA Research Database website is real-time, so any changes you make to your profile in Pure will quickly become visible in the HvA Research Database.

By default, the world map (Collaboration Map) is visible on your profile under Overview and as part of Network if country information has been entered for the external organisations in your Pure records.

If you do not want this map to be displayed on your profile, please fo the following:

  1. Go to Pure .
  2. Click on Edit profile > Portal profile > Collaboration Map.
  3. Change the slider from On to Off.

If you can't see a Collaboration Map or see fewer dots than expected, this is because no country information has (yet) been entered in Pure for your records. You can enter the country in the publication record by selecting External author (as long as the record has the status Entry in progress or For approval).

The Citations and H-index of your publications entered in Pure are based on Scopus. Scopus is therefore the source and this score is not based on other sources such as Google Scholar.

By default, the citation score and H-index will be shown on your profile at the top right.

If you do not want this information to be displayed, please do the following:

  1. Go to Pure .
  2. Click on Edit Profile > Portal Profile.
  3. Uncheck the boxes for Citations / H-index.

Fingerprints are keywords that are linked to your output in Pure . They are derived from the abstracts and keywords in publications via an algorithm. These keywords are also derived from Prizes and Research interests. They are then compared and matched with different thesauri from various databases such as Scopus.

Is there a match? If so, the fingerprint information will be shown under Fingerprint (and also when you click on your Overview).

Would you like to change the keywords in your Fingerprint?

  1. Go to Pure .
  2. Click on Fingerprints.
  3. Choose for On or Off for the relevant topic label. It is also possible to delete specific terms from Included concepts by clicking the red cross.

Please note: what if you do not have any Fingerprint keywords on your profile? This means that, according to the publications entered in Pure, no fingerprint information was found based on the various thesauri from different databases, in particular including Scopus.

The Highlighted content option allows you to highlight output records in Pure on your profile in the HvA Research Database. These records will then appear at the top of your list.

You can select up to 5 records for Research output, Activities, Prizes, Press / Media, Datasets and CV, respectively. Click on the plus sign in Pure to add your record(s).

If you have several affiliations in Pure, you can designate one as primary. The others will then no longer be included automatically when new records are added. Your profile page in the HvA Research Database will show all current appointments (including the affiliation marked as primary).

Your email address can be added to an affiliation.

  1. Log in to Pure and choose Edit profile.
  2. Choose Metadata and scroll to Organisational affiliations.
  3. Choose a current appointment and click Edit.
  4. In the new screen, scroll to Electronic addresses and enter your email address.
  5. Save the appointment with Update to return to your profile.
  6. Save your profile.

Please note: the HvA Research Database only displays current affiliations. This means that if an affiliation has an end date in Pure (because you will get another affiliation), this affiliation including the email address will disappear from your profile page in the HvA Research Database.

A job description can be added to an appointment (affiliation).

  1. Log in to Pure and choose Edit profile.
  2. Choose Metadata and scroll to Organisational affiliations.
  3. Choose a current appointment and click Edit.
  4. In the new screen, in the Job description field, you can enter a concise, substantive job description.
  5. Save the appointment with Update to return to your profile.
  6. Save your profile.
