Karen works on the ATELIER project, an EU-funded Smart City project aiming to create and replicate Positive Energy Districts (PEDs) within two Lighthouse Cities and six Fellow Cities. She also supports other Energy and Innovation projects within Centre of Expertise Urban Technology.

Karen is committed to reducing the environmental impact of the built environment through international best practice including Passive House Principles, Life Cycle Analysis and a circularity focus.

Previous work

Karen has worked internationally for NGOs, higher education and local government sectors in the field of energy and sustainability. Karen spent seven years working in various roles at Monash University, Melbourne supporting their Net Zero Initiative and helping to reduce the impact of their operations on the environment. Karen's experience supports innovative sustainable solutions, delivering in-depth research and analysis, underpinned by measurement, monitoring and reporting.
