'My name is Alexia Calderón, I am 26 years old, born in Guadalajara, México, but been living in Barcelona for the past 6 years until October, when I moved to Amsterdam. I’ve been dancing since the age of 4, so dance has been more than just a part of my life. I’ve been learning all different types of dance styles, from classic Ballet to Hip Hop, from Jazz to Vogue, from Modern to Heels… All of this knowledge has become part of my personal movement and has made me who I am today as a dancer, choreographer and teacher.

'I’ve been teaching dance classes since the age of 18, working with different ages and levels, specially beginners and intermediate, and lately with more professional dancers. But no matter the level, my working method has always been linked to the sentimental part of the dancer. I appreciate technic and hard work, there’s no question, but something that has made me fall in love with dance and art in general is the emotional part, which is for me the most important, in order to truly connect with yourself as an artist and in this case, mover.

So, as a teacher, I will always seek for the emotional being inside every student. Dance is so much more than just physical movements, it is about connections, energies, vibrations, emotional experiences. A place where everyone can share itself and be unique, while learning different technics to express what you want to say through your body.'
