After graduating from the programme European School of Physiotherapy you'll you be awarded a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours. Your professional career can begin or will you decide to pursue another study?

Career opportunities

After completing the study programme, you are able to work independently and with a critical attitude as a professional practitioner. You will furthermore be capable of working at higher professional education level as a physiotherapist in the following 7 areas, determined by the Royal Dutch Association for Physical Therapy : Physical therapy activities, Communicating, Collaborating, Knowledge sharing and scientific research, Acting in the interest of society, Organizing and Professional conduct. hh

Where employed?

Physiotherapists are employed in hospitals, private practices, rehabilitation centres, nursing homes, health centres, and sports teams or associations. Physiotherapists who have been trained in the Netherlands can work in many different places in the world.

RIBIZ-register

All graduates who have obtained the relevant diploma can be included in the RIBIZ-register. RIBIZ is a division of the CIBG, an agency of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. You are then able to use the legally protected professional title in The Netherlands and abroad. This registration is a license to practice physiotherapy in the Netherlands and enables registration in most countries of the European Union and the rest of the world. Some countries have additional requirements. We can provide you with more details on registration abroad.


Master's

A Bachelor’s degree provides a good basis for further studies. The options depend on which Master’s degree programme you would like to attend and at which university.

Many of our alumni decide to continue their academic career by applying for a Master’s program following ESP. According to our internal statistics, currently around 50% of our graduates are pursuing a MSc at some point in their career.

Master Muskuloskeletal Physiotherapy Sciences

ESP offers a transition to the MSc in Muskuloskeletal Physiotherapy Sciences as offered by the VU University in Amsterdam. For students with high academic skills, a special minor has been designed in collaboration with the VU university which (upon completion) will make them automatically admissible this this MSc programme that will last only one more year. This “package deal” will give motivated students the chance to obtain their MSc in Physiotherapy in four years (Three years at ESP and one year at the VU University). Other ESP graduates have transitioned to other international MSc programmes successfully, for example in the field of manual therapy, neurology, sports or pediatrics.
