About Ingrid Boelhouwer
Earlier in her career, Ingrid worked in the corporate sector, focusing on management, marketing, and leading ICT change projects. She entered the field of education in 2007, beginning as a freelance lecturer at the Medicine programme at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU), and later taking on roles such as curriculum developer (applied) psychology, lecturer, and examiner in both distance-learning and private university settings. Since 2010, she has been part of the Applied Psychology programme at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (HvA).
Her PhD research (2017–2022), Work after Cancer, investigated the link between late effects of cancer treatments and work functioning, as well as the influence of job resources. In 2018, she received an encouragement award from the Dutch Federation of Cancer Patients (NFK).
In 2023, a joint grant application by Ingrid, Centrum Werk Gezondheid, and NFK was awarded funding by the Labour Expert Knowledge Centre (AKC). The project was aimed at labour experts who, in their professional practice, may work with employees experiencing long-term effects of cancer and its treatment, such as cognitive problems. Results were presented in November 2024.
Since September 2024, Ingrid has also been working on the development of the guideline module on Cognitive Problems for the Netherlands Society of Occupational Medicine (NVAB).
She participates in two European collaborations:
- COST Action: CA21152, Implementation Network Europe for Cancer Survivorship Care (INE-CSC).
- RESTART European Consortium on Cancer, Work and Employment.
