Dr Stijn Sieckelinck is a lecturer in Youth Spot | Youth Work at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. After completing his degree in Social and Philosophical Pedagogy, he worked as a youth worker in Ghent. In 2009, he obtained his PhD from VU University Amsterdam. As a ‘thinker in a world of action’, he seeks to contribute to better insights and approaches in academia, practice and policy.

About Stijn Sieckelinck

Stijn Sieckelinck was born in Duffel in 1980 and grew up in Mechelen, Belgium. After studying Social and Philosophical Pedagogy at the Catholic University of Leuven (1998–2003), he worked as a youth worker in Ghent. He then had the opportunity to pursue a PhD at VU University Amsterdam (2004–2009), which resulted in the book *Het beste van de jeugd. Een wijsgerig-pedagogisch perspectief op jongeren en hun ideal(ism)en* (The Best of Youth: A Philosophical-Pedagogical Perspective on Young People and their Ideals and Idealism).

Stijn subsequently worked as a researcher at various academic institutions, including the Forum Institute for Multicultural Issues (2010–2013), the Netherlands School of Public Administration (2011–2013), Utrecht University (2014–2017) and McGill University in Montreal, Canada (2017). His interest lies in social issues relating to upbringing. As a ‘thinker in a world of action’, he seeks to contribute to better insights and approaches in academia, practice and policy wherever the relationship with young people is at stake.
