Regeneration Week: building an economy that restores and renews

This November, the Centre for Economic Transformation will host the first Regeneration Week – a week full of encounters, experiments and knowledge exchange on how to build an economy that restores rather than depletes. Researchers, students, entrepreneurs and social partners from inside and outside the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) will work together to explore new perspectives for a future-fit economy.

Knowledge as a driver of transformation

Regeneration Week is an initiative of CET, in collaboration with Het Groene Brein LDE Centre for Sustainability, Impact Hub Amsterdam and the  AUAS Venture Centre
CET connects research, education and collaboration with external partners to accelerate the transition towards a sustainable, resilient and regenerative economy. During Regeneration Week, these networks come together in an inspiring week of dialogue, co-creation and action.

From Donut Day to Academic Day

The week’s programme covers a broad range of themes:

  • Monday – Donut Day: organised by the Amsterdam Donut Coalition, companies can take a self-scan—guided by AUAS students—to discover how regenerative they already are.
  • Tuesday – Celebrating Kate Raworth’s Impact: economist and Professor of Practice Kate Raworth concludes her term at AUAS with an interactive performance, Doughnut Economics Circus: Battle for the Biosphere.
  • Wednesday – Beyond Zero & Collaborate to Regenerate: a Student Startup Day and an afternoon session for pioneers in Regenerative Business and anyone ready to take the next step.
  • Thursday – Circling Back, Moving Forward: Regenerative Research Day: researchers explore how science can actively contribute to restoring ecosystems, economies and communities.

Beyond sustainability

While sustainable business focuses on reducing harm, regenerative practices go a step further – contributing actively to renewal, growth and resilience. Regeneration Week demonstrates how education, research and entrepreneurship can work together to create positive cycles where people, communities and nature thrive.

Join us!

Regeneration Week is not only a celebration of progress but also a call to action. Everyone committed to systemic change – from students and researchers to entrepreneurs and policymakers – is invited to learn, design and build new coalitions for impact.
