In May, the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences will host the 20th edition of the annual Textile ETP Conference: Europe’s leading event in research and innovation for future-proof textiles and clothing. The conference will take place from 26 to 28 May 2026 and is organized in collaboration with Textile ETP. This three-day event will be held in Amsterdam. The conference offers an excellent opportunity to position the HvA’s Fashion Research & Technology research group internationally and to highlight the role of practice-oriented research in the transition toward a sustainable and digital textile industry.

Digital transformation as a central theme

This anniversary edition focuses on how digital technologies and data-driven business models are fundamentally transforming the textile and fashion industry.

The program explores how innovations in digitization, automation, and AI can create new value, strengthen companies’ competitive position, and offer opportunities for both established players and innovative startups.

The conference brings together researchers, companies, policymakers, and knowledge institutions from across Europe to share knowledge, strengthen collaborations, and shape new research and innovation agendas.

European regulations and strategic opportunities

In addition to technological innovation, there is a strong focus on the evolving European policy landscape. Various sessions will examine current and upcoming regulations, including:

  • Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR)
  • Digital Product Passport (DPP)
  • AI Act
  • European initiatives around the circular economy

Participants will gain insight into the impact of these regulations on the sector, the associated compliance requirements, and the strategic opportunities that result from them.

International recognition for AUAS research

By hosting this conference, the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) is firmly positioning itself as a key knowledge partner within the European textile and innovation network. For the Fashion Research & Technology research group, the event provides a powerful platform to highlight ongoing research, practice-oriented innovations, and collaborations with the industry.

For twenty years, the Textile ETP Annual Conference has been the gathering place for stakeholders working toward a smart, sustainable, and future-proof textile industry. The 2026 edition promises to be a special anniversary event, located in the heart of Amsterdam.
