Jan Bogerd Joins the Supervisory Board of Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences
News
Jan Bogerd will become a member of the Supervisory Board of Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) as of June 1, 2026. Until 2023, he was Chair of the Executive Board of Utrecht University of Applied Sciences. He has also served as Vice-chair of the Association of Universities of Applied Sciences (Vereniging Hogescholen). Jan Bogerd now focuses on governance in the public sector.
With Jan Bogerd, the Supervisory Board gains an expert supervisor and someone with deep knowledge of the practice, dynamics, and challenges facing universities of applied sciences. Since he began there as a lecturer in 1994, he has held practically every educational, management, and executive position. This means he understands both executive dynamics and educational practice, and as a manager he has developed a broad perspective on governance and good management.
Jan Bogerd: "I am pleased to contribute to the future of AUAS. Against the backdrop of complex issues in higher education, I believe in governance where the Supervisory Board, through connection and commitment, contributes to clear and responsible decisions."
"We are very pleased with Jan's arrival," said Gala Veldhoen, chair of the Supervisory Board. "In our recruitment, we deliberately sought someone rooted in the applied sciences sector. Jan brings a wealth of experience as a student, Lecturer, Manager, and Supervisor, and knows the sector from different perspectives. This broad knowledge and his strong commitment to higher professional education strengthen the Supervisory Board. We look forward to his arrival."
Jopie Nooren, chair of the Executive Board, adds: "With Jan, we are not only bringing in an experienced supervisor, but also someone who knows higher professional education from the inside. This gives the Supervisory Board a valuable addition. As an Executive Board, we are confident that together with the Supervisory Board we can effectively respond to the challenges ahead."
Reappointment of Henno Theisens
In addition to Jan Bogerd's arrival, Henno Theisens has been reappointed as a member of the Supervisory Board as of June 1, 2026, until November 30, 2026 at the latest. The reappointment was prompted by Jaco van Goudswaard's recent resignation from his membership. He has accepted a new primary position that cannot be combined with his supervisory role at our organization. We are grateful for his commitment and involvement with AUAS.
To ensure continuity, the Supervisory Board has asked Henno Theisens to remain for a maximum of another six months. Henno Theisens works as a Lecturer in Public Governance at The Hague University of Applied Sciences and as an Associate Professor of Administrative and Executive Excellence for Local Authorities at Tilburg University.
The recruitment procedure for a new Supervisory Board member is now being prepared and will begin at the end of August 2026.
