CURE+

The CURE+ project promotes and designs urban practices for monitoring, tracing, reducing, reusing, repairing, remanufacturing, and upcycling household-related construction and demolition waste. Construction and demolition waste is the most significant waste stream in the EU by mass, with approximately 340 million tonnes between 2010-2018. Material flows resulting from demolition and renovation work are currently hardly available for reuse or upcycling.
ResultsĀ
At the end of January, CURE+ started in Riga, Latvia. In addition to Riga, three other cities are participating: Tartu (Estonia), Kavala (Greece), and Barcelona (Spain). The project focuses on improving waste management of construction waste through circular processing. In addition, the project aims to learn from best practices from projects in order to implement local solutions elsewhere, together with citizens as stakeholders.Ā
Over the next three years, the partners will work on improving the knowledge of municipal staff and local stakeholders and increasing the possibilities for processing the waste. In addition, the CURE+ project is intended to lead to improved cooperation between the participating cities and exchange of the best results between Baltic and Southern European municipalities.Ā
